Le Louvre was built from the 12th century onwards. Little remains of the 12th century fortress (foundations can still be seen), and the fortress was remodeled…
Main facade on Le Louvre square. It was built under Louis XIV between 1668 and 1672 by a pool of architects (L. and F. Le Vau, F. d'Orbay, C. Perrault).
The central decorations were added by Napoleon (early 19th century).
